What is a Child Care Educator?
Well, we see it as an intellectually, emotionally and physically demanding profession and there are qualifications requirements for all educators.
To work in long day care, educators need a vocational qualification (certificate III or diploma) and teachers must have an education degree the same qualification as teachers in schools.
Our educators have a love of children, see the importance of early education and are satisfied with their chosen career. We see it as a profession rather than just a job.
We are proud of all of our educators with their years of experience and study and their massive contribution to early learning.
They come to the centre of a morning and no matter what is happening in their personal life, the children and the high-quality education and care they provide along with ongoing support of all sorts for families comes first.

My son started at Uniting Church Child Care Centre Gympie about a year ago. He was 2 when he started and had never attended child care until then. We felt very welcomed from the moment we entered the centre. The teachers did an amazing job making him feel comfortable, after 30 minutes he didn’t want to leave!
It was a steep learning curve at the start but you could see the knowledge, love and experience the teachers had helping him adjust. He had a few hiccups early on and the teachers did an amazing job finding both short and long term ways of helping to stop these.
His language skills were a big factor and they worked hard helping him learn words to express himself and in the short term when they saw him struggling to communicate they would assist him. His language has improved dramatically in a short time and you can see his satisfaction in being able to communicate.
